A 40 minute employability skills lesson- This is the eleventh of 12 sessions which will cover all aspects of employability skills, as well as serve as a step-by-step guide for schools and students that are signed up to the LikeToBe website. This eleventh session is all about the importance of initiative and enterprise skills, what these are exactly and how we can acquire them and demonstrate our proficiency in these to employers. How teens can be radicalised by internet subcultures such as Incels or Andrew Tate - a 2 hour, fully-resourced, detailed and differentiated PSHE / Internet Safety lesson, created specifically for the new PSHE + RSE 2020-24 guidelines (countering bigotry and extremism). This resource is in two parts, so can be used for two 25 minute Tutor Time sessions. It may stretch over three if you complete all the activities. Part 1) Were the first Britons Black? This part has been created to spark your students’ interest in the origins of Britain as a multi-ethnic country. It introduces recent research on ‘Cheddar Man’, an individual discovered to be one of the first peoples of Britain, and of a group many would describe today as people of colour. In this part, students also cover how for centuries western academics grouped together completely unrelated cultures as ‘black’ and see that recent DNA discoveries have shown that there is more human genetic diversity in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa than there is in the entire rest of the world. Part 2) More of a traditional Black History session, looking at the origins of the month, back to its conception in America, the Civil Rights movement and including reading comprehension tasks and clips with differentiated questioning.
